| The port activity as such in Sölvesborg can be deduced back to the 1600 when the era of the Hanseatics power had dissapeared. In the year 1670 the right of collecting fees from port activities had been lost and the shipping industry faced a miserable time causing that the 16:th century was a lost century for the shipping industry. It took until mid 17:th century for the industry to get going again with export on own keels from the region. | |
| In 1839 as the first employee, a harbour master, was employed who took care of all matters in the port. In the year 1851, 185 ships entered the port. | |
| In 1801 the first ship yard was established in Sölvesborg. The peak for the yard was in the post second war time. In the beginning of 1980:s the whole industry in Sweden went into bancrupcy and the ship yard closed. | |
